ESC: Mobility Week

🌍 European Mobility Week in Trnava 🇸🇰✨ From September 10th to October 2nd, we had the pleasure of hosting incredible ESC 10 volunteers from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, and Slovakia. These amazing individuals played a pivotal role in preparing for the annual European Mobility Week event. 🚴‍♂️ European Mobility Week is an annual event that promotes sustainable transportation and mobility in cities across Europe. Let’s take a closer look at their fantastic contributions: 🚴‍♂️ They had a unique opportunity to deliver newspapers for locals using bicycles, showcasing the eco-friendly and community-oriented aspects of sustainable mobility. 🌿 Apart from their significant contributions to European Mobility Week, they joined the global movement on World Cleanup Day, leaving our city even cleaner. ♻️ While visiting FCC Trnava, they explored sustainable waste management practices, learning how we can make our city cleaner. 🏡 The future of sustainable living was unveiled when they visited the innovative Ecocapsule, gaining insights into eco-friendly housing and sustainable living. 🏭 A tour of the power plant at Jaslovske Bohunice offered a behind-the-scenes look at how our city’s energy is generated and the sustainable solutions driving our future. 📚 They also took time to inspire and educate the next generation by conducting engaging workshops in our local schools. The ESC volunteers went above and beyond, proving that European Mobility Week is not just about transportation but also about creating a cleaner, more sustainable future for our city and the world. 🌟🚴‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Thanks to these incredible volunteers.

Final Article

Ahoj! This week marks the final week of our Esc project about the European Mobility Week.

In the first week we got to know each other, the history of Trnava and the culture of Slovakia. We tried a lot of typical dishes like trdelník, lagnos, burčiak, cigánska, klobasa, halušky and borovička, Tatratea (all were vel’mi dobre). We also visited the castles and the city’s of Nitra, Trenčín, Smolenice, Martín and Bratislava.

On the other side we promote healthy habits, and we share some tricks about how to be greener and more sustainable with the environment and in our lifes.

For example, we participated and promoted the campaigns of “I love running” and “cycling with citizens”. These is one of the reasons why we also got bikes from the major.

We also stepped out of our comfort zone by creating and presenting some workshops and games for the students of the ‘Sports Gymnasium Jozefa Herdu’ about sustainable transport and how to improve ourselves in these areas while we got some fun with the students during these activities.

On the more creative aspect, we designed many flyers about European Solidarity Corps, Erasmus+ projects, Discover EU and about the association ‘Youth for Equality’. We also went to the street to share these flyers plus some information about our experiences with the locals, in other way we collected some data about the local behaviours in relation with the means of transport with some surveys that we prepared beforehand.

Other activities were cleaning the green areas of Trnava and the new building of the Charita organisation, handing out a lot of the Charita newspapers with our beloved bikes and visiting an ecocapsule, a garbage disposal and a nuclear power plant.

In conclusion, we did many different activities and workshops, had lots of fun, enjoyed tasty food and drinks and made many new friends!

Xoxo the Eichhörnchen team! <3
